In the encounter that took place in Kenya in August 2023 it was decided to form groups among the participants of the Assembly. Two types of groups were created: Working Groups (WG) and Thematic Groups (TG).
We understand Working groups to be working towards a specific aim, to either create a document, a platform, or an event for instance. Whereas, we understand Thematic group to be reflecting, deliberating and understanding a larger concept, which may not necessarily have a specific outcome outlined; but of course there can be projects emerging out of such spaces.
In this webpage we store the information related with each of them.
Please contact the anchors of each group if you would like to be added to the participants' list for any group. Alternatively, please contact either Franco Augusto in case of any doubts.
The Pluriversal Dictionary of AlternativesAre activities and initiatives, concepts, worldviews, or action proposals by collectives, groups, organizations, communities, or social movements challenging and replacing the dominant system that perpetuates inequality, exploitation, and unsustainabiity. In the GTA we focus primarily on what we call "radical or transformative alternatives", which we define as initiatives that are attempting to break with the dominant system and take paths towards direct and radical forms of political and economic democracy, localised self-reliance, social justice and equity, cultural and knowledge diversity, and ecological resilience. Their locus is neither the State nor the capitalist economy. They are advancing in the process of dismantling most forms of hierarchies, assuming the principles of sufficiency, autonomy, non-violence, justice and equality, solidarity, and the caring of life and the Earth. They do this in an integral way, not limited to a single aspect of life. Although such initiatives may have some kind of link with capitalist markets and the State, they prioritize their autonomy to avoid significant dependency on them and tend to reduce, as much as possible, any relationship with them. aims to build on previous experiences like the Pluriverse book and other projects. This is intended to be a common space to explore these concepts, and create collective definitions.
This group wants to learn from different WeaversThey are local, regional, or national networks or organizations that connects or consists of multiple Alternatives on different themes/spheres, in an inter-sectorial way. A global network cannot be a Waever, neither a thematic one. It should be a collective process of some kind, rather than only a single individual or single organization. By being a "weaver", they are committed to participate in the GTA, developing ways of dialogue, interconnection, collaboration and solidarity with other Weavers. GTA promotes the interconnection of the Weavers, identifying [[:weavers:criteria|a series common criteria for the weaving of Alternatives]]. Examples: Vikalp Sangam and Crianza Mutua. that are already working with alternatives, and try to create materials to facilitate the creation of tools for new weavers.
A space to plan future Assemblies.
This space is to connect different regions and exchange ideas of Weaving, and facilitating dedicated spaces to coordinate this interchange.
This group would like to make a public statement/manifesto, such as Adelante.
This Thematic group emerged as a focus area, and is as of yet inactive. Please contact us if you would like to anchor/participate in the group.
