Spaces of Confluence

Vikalp Sangam (Alternative Confluence) is an ongoing process which started in the year 2014. It aims at bringing together practitioners, thinkers, researchers, and others working on alternatives to currently dominant forms of economic development and political governance.

The endeavour is to create a space to come together, dream and deliberate towards an alternative future. While resistance efforts are underway, and need to be supported, we also need to create a cross sectoral platform on alternatives (or constructive work) to share, learn, build hope, and collaboration.

Crianza Mutua is a process inspired by Zapatismo. It emerged within the autonomous Universidad de la Tierra in Mexico. It seeks to identify, document and connect groups through communal webs which are actively dismantling hierarchies in everyday life, putting principles of sufficiency into practice and constructing and extending their autonomy from the market and the State.

The World Social Forum of Transformative Economies is a process fostering the convergence of different local and international movements from the alternative (or transformative). These include: feminist economies, agro-ecology and food sovereignty, the communs and the social and solidarity economy.
This campaign seeks to deliver public visibility and recognition of transformative economy projects, as well as providing an alternative narrative to challenge hegemonic capitalist discourse.

The main objective of this process is to bring together social movements and projects which share the will to put people and the environment at the centre of the economy, to put an end to an economy based on extraction, growth, competition and the market, and to struggle towards collaborative, resilient societies which develop and reinforce strategic alliances and actions through working together.
